New Adventures!

The babies had all kinds of new adventures over the weekend.  They made their first trip into the living room, went outside on the patio for a few minutes with toys, ate their first puppy food, and moved out of their whelping box into the puppy condo!  They also had two visitors (close friends who Bella trusts!) come to see them.  Lots of loving!

Here are some of the pups in the living room - two of the boys were off exploring!

How loud can I howl!!!  Maybe orange boy is imitating the Beagle next door!

This is a whole new world out here but at least there are TOYS!

Here are the puppies learning how to eat!  They had more on them than in them I think!

And here are the babies in their new digs - the "puppy condo"!  Harder to get out of for now!

Puppies turn 3 weeks old today!

The babies are 3 weeks old today and are weighing anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 lb!  They are walking, barking, growling and playing - tho still not completely steady on their feet.  Mostly though they still sleep!  These pictures were taken in the last couple of days and I hope to get new ones over the weekend!

This is what you will still find the puppies doing with most of their time!

Green and Pink - the two girls - seem to like to hang out together a lot!

And the boys like to snuggle too!

Eyes are all open!

The puppies have really changed a lot over the weekend.  All eyes are open and they can now hear!  They are all walking around the box though still wobbly.  Bella continues to be a great mom!

Look Mom - we can see now!  And thanks for the toys - they are fun to snuggle with!

Hey Bro - let's play!

I bet the puppies won't all still fit in the purple tub in a week or so!

In another week or so it will be time to start supplementing puppies and helping Bella out!

Wow - the puppies are two weeks old today!

Hard to believe that two weeks ago we were still having puppies!  They are all growing so fast - all over 1 1/2 lb and a couple right at 2 lb!  Eyes started opening in the last day or so - I don't think they are really focusing and seeing yet but they sure look cute!  Everyone is getting  much more mobile in the box and they are "toddling" around now.  They will stand and take a few wobbly steps and then fall down.

All lined up for dinner!

Talk about relaxed!

Puppies double their birth weight!

The puppies are growing by leaps and bounds!  Everyone has doubled their birthweight by now!  Bella continues to be a terrific mom - very nurturing but not overly obssessed with her new family.  I did toenails for the first time this weekend which is always a challenge as you just can't SEE them!  Babies continue to move around the box a lot, a few climbing up on the pig rail instead of getting underneath it.

Bella has discovered a new way to nurse - sitting up!  It won't be long till she slides into a laying down position tho.  She seems calm and proud of her family!

Here they are all together - remember green and pink are the girls and in this photo they are in the middle of the bunch!

Our new look!

Here are the pups with their new look - no tails and dewclaws!  The two puppies on the right - Pink and Green - are the girls.  The rest are the boys!

Here we are minus tails and dewclaws - aren't we cute?

Bella is being such a good mom - and look how much the babies have grown!

A Tale of Tails

Hi everybody, I am the little Orange Boy - the smallest puppy in the litter.  I wanted to tell you that my brothers and sisters and I don't have tails or dewclaws any more!  It was pretty scary but Mama Pat made us laugh when she and Dr. Nairn tried to convince Aunt Lynne that breeders make a necklace out of the tails and wear it in the ring for luck!  Aunt Lynne was too smart to fall for that though!  Anyway when we get around to it, we will all pose for a group photo with our new look!

See my pretty star on my chest?
Everyone says it looks like the Star of Texas but I am  not convinced!

Bella's puppies have arrived!

Bella started having her puppies around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6th, and she finished up just before noon. EIGHT beautiful healthy babies - 6 boys and 2 girls!  Everyone is doing great and after a brief moment of looking at me with a "you expect me to do WHAT with those puppies?" look, Bella has been an excellent mom!  Everyone is gaining weight and looking good.

Bella's X-ray!

Bella had her check-up yesterday and an x-ray to give us a good idea of how many puppies she is carrying - Dr. Van Brunt saw EIGHT puppies!  Amazing!  Although Bella looked big to me, I never dreamed we would get this many puppies from a frozen semen breeding to an older dog!  Tristan once again is the MAN!  Now to get them all here safely!

Here are some photos of Bella taken this past weekend. We spent Saturday getting the puppy room set up and all is ready and waiting now!

Bella has lots of milk and looks like she will need it!

Bella still seems to feel great and is getting bossy again with her brother Kolt!

That cool tile feels good on Bella's belly!
